A lecture for all levels, beginners to experienced painters, mixed media artist to journal artists……ideas for all of you.

This exciting demo covers a wide variety of tools and techniques for use in Mixed Media projects. 

Learn about the wide range of GOLDEN Acrylic paints and mediums, as well as QoR Watercolor, giving you a good understanding of each product and their different attributes. 

Learn how to make the right choices in grounds and colors for the best intended application and for archival quality. 

Learn what to put under paint, and how to create washes, stains, and collage. 

We also cover the use of stencils, paint markers, pastels, and pencils, as well as the creation of encaustic-like effects and how to use Iridescent and Interference colors to add unique qualities to your work. 

This is a great place for beginners and experienced artists alike to learn new techniques and be inspired by innovative applications. 

Attendees will receive a selection of the products discussed to take home and explore the breadth and depth of GOLDEN’s professional product line.

Acrylics A-Z

The demo is a fun, informative and interactive 2 hour session, which covers acrylics A-Z, including:

  • What acrylic paint is made of and how its makeup effects its behavior in the studio.

  • Drying times and how to control them

  • Difference between mineral and modern pigments and how this effects color mixing

  • Using different primary hues

  • Differences between the blacks and whites

  • Iridescent and interference colors

  • What the different lines of acrylic paint are and where/how to use each: Heavy Body for texture, Fluids for a level flow or a watercolor-like look, High Flow for an ink consistency, and OPEN slow-drying for extended blending, glazing and printmaking.

We’ll also cover the huge line of gels and mediums, the difference between them all, and how to use them to:

  • Change your paint consistency, create texture, enhance transparency, and extend your paints to save money

  • The different Molding Pastes and Grounds, how to use them to create unique, textured painting surfaces

  • How to use grounds to create your own watercolor canvas

  • How to turn surfaces other than paper into surfaces appropriate for dry media

  • The basics of varnishing

  • New QoR watercolors and their unique binder, high pigment load; ... and more!
